Gooseberry Dewatering Screw Press
Gooseberry (Amla) Juice Extraction Using Dewatering Screw Press
Gooseberry, commonly known as Amla, is widely celebrated in Indian traditional medicine and nutrition for its high Vitamin C content and potent antioxidant properties. Its juice is a key component in health supplements, Ayurvedic formulations, and modern wellness beverages. However, the tough fibrous texture and presence of hard seeds often pose challenges in large-scale juice extraction.
Nature of the Material
Amla is a firm, fibrous fruit with a hard inner seed and a high moisture content. The juice is rich in nutrients but locked within dense fibers, making mechanical separation critical for efficient extraction. Additionally, the seed needs to be managed without causing operational issues.
Extraction Trial and Setup
To validate the performance of our Dewatering Screw Press for Amla processing, a series of trials were conducted using both shredded and unshredded gooseberries. The trials were carried out on a 4-inch screw press equipped with a 1 mm perforated screen.
Both forms of Amla—shredded and whole—were processed smoothly. Although slightly better results were obtained with shredded Amla in terms of juice clarity and flow, the difference was minimal, and the equipment handled unshredded whole fruit effectively, showcasing the press’s adaptability.
The hard seeds passed through the screw press without damaging the machine, demonstrating that the design can accommodate the tough inner core without creating bottlenecks or wear-and-tear on the system.
